He was deeded land by his father at Carr pond. He was a deacon in the Baptist church for thirty years and once a member of the Assembly. He was also sheriff of Kent county at the time that thirteen pirates were hung from the yardarm of the ships lying in the bay of East Greenwich. Charles married Hannah Hopkins on 18 Nov 1735.
