Born in Winona, Minn., on Sept. 21, 1920, the daughter of Ernest and Laura Mae Harvey. Marilyn graduated from Winona State Teachers College and taught school in Pine Island and Austin, Minn. In 1948, she moved to Rockford, and was a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Welsh and Riverdahl schools. She enjoyed family vacations, time at the lake, cooking for family gatherings and baking cookies with her grandchildren. Friends and family remember that she always had a joke to tell, loved watching baseball and identifying birds and wildflowers. She was a member of and volunteered at Alpine Lutheran Church, helping with newsletter mailings and funeral luncheons. She also volunteered at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Marilyn loved to travel, taking trips with family and friends to Scandinavia, Alaska and most of the 50 states. Always an excellent storyteller, in the early '60s she used this skill on a Saturday morning television show, "Come and See," sharing Christian values telling Bible stories for children.
