Alice Mendes notes are quoted below:
In 1997, at Genealogical section of Carlsbad City Library, Carlsbad, CA, I found the following:
From Fulton County, Ind. Cemetery Inscriptions, Vol. 4. Rochester
Twp and city by Jean C. and Wendell C. Tombaugh--publi by Tombaugh Publishing House. 700 Pontiac Street, Rochester, IN 46975, p 57:
Burton Cemetery, Row 1 -
McAnnaly, Martha A., dau of W. & E. McAnally,
died Feb. 11, 1856, age 8yr-6mo-16da.
with note: This cemetery is in Rochester twp, north-west of Rochester, on the north side of county, road 200 N, between 200-300 W (closer to 200 W).
At the time of this reading, Burton cemetery was full of weeds, tree
starts and leaves and very hard to find the grave markers.
The rows were not clearly defined, but seem to run north &
south; and were numbered from west to east. The stones were read
from south to north. Information was recorded in November
1974 (3 1/2 hrs).

Obituary from the Lehigh, Iowa newspaper:

W.H. McANALLY ANSWERS CALL
Well known and highly respected citizen died Friday
after many months of sickness.
W.H. McAnally, highly repected and well-known citizen
of this place passed away Friday morning at his home here. His
death was not altogether unexpected for he has been gradually
failing for the past year. However right up to the day of his death
he has been getting out of bed each morning at the accustomed
hour and Thursday walked through the house with slight
assistance and tookhis chair in the kitchen. He was a sufferer
with kidney trouble and a year ago the disease began to fasten
its hold on him and he gradually failed until death came to relieve
him.
William Henry McAnally was born in Auburn, DeKalb
county, Indiana, May 3, 1854, and passed away at his home in
Lehigh, September 5, 1924, aged 78 years, 3 months and 28 days.
He lived with his parents in Indiana until a young man grown,
coming to this state in 1866. October 6, 1867, he was united in
marriage to Miss Kate Corey, the wedding taking place at
Border Plains. The following year they moved to Cass County,
Missouri, where they remained fifteen years, returning to Iowa
and locating in Lehigh in 1883, where they have since resided.
Ten children are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving
father, S.C. and Wm. McAnally of Fort Dodge; Frank and Newell
McAnally of this place; Mrs. Jess Roberts of Lehigh; Mrs. H.H.
Mickelson of Webster City, mrs. N.B. Nelson of Fort Dodge,
Mrs. Fred Rolfe and Mrs. Eric Bloom, of Dayton, and Mrs. Elias
Humphrey of this place. He also leaves a sorrowing wife who
has been his companion for nearly fifty-seven years. Two
brothers and one sister are also left, B.W. McAnally of Popular,
Montana; A.L. McAnally of Independence Missouri and Mrs. A.L.
Stine of Holaday Creek neighborhood north od Lehigh.
Funeral service were held from the home Sunday
afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Elder Scriven of the
Adventist church of Nevada assisted by Elder Stewart of
Fort Dodge. Elder Scriven preached a very comforting sermon
quoting texts from the Holy Word. "For we know that if our earthly
house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of
God, a house not made with hands, eternal in heavens." "For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven and shout, with the
voice of the archangel, and with the trump (sic) of God, and the
dead in Christ shall rise first." The services were attended by
many friends and neighbors of the deceased. Mr. McAnally
lived a good life, square, honorable and upright and his death
is mourned by all. Interment was made in Otho cemetery to
await the coming of the Lord.
McAnally, William Henry (I8221)

905 NOTES:
Of Burrows W. McAnally, Ms. Mendes writes the following:
Burr married 1st to Mary Ball, and 2nd to Hannah Ball. No one seemed
to know by which wife he had the children they remembered:
Gertrude, Roscoe, Maude, Jim, Earl, Benny and Ray. From census
records, it was obvious that there were more children, and all
were the children of Burr and Mary with the exception of Gertrude
and Roscoe. I have assumed that Roscoe was the son of Burr and
Hannah as he did not appear in the 1880 census nor the 1900
census, and was known to have grown to adulthood. Gertrude,
who died in infancy, has been listed as a child of Burr and Hannah
for the sake of listing her someplace in the family.
In 1878 he lived 1 mile from Harrisonville, Cass Co.,
Missouri. In July 1886, he was living in Everett, Bates Co.,
Missouri. In 1924 he was alive and living in Poplar, Roosevelt
Co., Montana. (According to family letters and records.)
He left Montana and went to Porterville, California, where
his step-son, Hugh Brown, lived. He died there and is buried in Old
Porterville Cemetery, in Porterville. His wife, Hannah, was buried
next to him on June 19, 1961.

906 NOTES:
Of John Q. McAnally, Alice Mendes writes, "John McAnally died when a young man. He is buried in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri, and his grave is marked. He and Martha had no children.

Per Ms. Mendes, William Reddick McAnally's middle name sometimes appears as "Roderick". Since he had grandchildren with "Reddick" incorporated into their names, it is safe to say that "Roderick" an error.
Land records in Miami County, OH, show his name as William Reddick McAnally.

All of the comments above were copied from "The Descendants of
Henry McAnally" compiled by Ms. Alice Mendes.
Re: Ms. Mendes last paragraph above-- compiler has found numerous situations in the census enumerations were individuals within a given household are recorded with the wrong given name, e.g. "Mary" where it should read "Sarah", etc. This type of error is not at all uncommon. For this reason, the "Thomas McAnnally, age 24..." that Ms. Mendes found enumerated in dwelling #1246, may still be the appropriate "Thomas", i.e. son of William R.
McAnally, William Reddick (I1549)

931 Obituary of Marie Knight Harris
Chateaugay and Franklin County Democrat, May 10, 1907, page 8

Another old resident of Chateaugay Lake has passed away. After much suffering of a week with pneumonia, Mrs. Harris answered the summons of her master Monday morning, April 29. Mrs. Harris, whose maiden name was Miss Maria L. Wilson, was born in Chazy, May 14, 1841. In 1858 she became the wife of Isaac Knight and soon after they settled in Brainardsville, where they resided for a few years, from thence they moved to Chateaugay Lake where they spent the remainder of their years. They reared a family of seven children and by hard and unceasing efforts both Mr. and Mrs. Knight made rapid strides in lifes progress and as a result of their efforts they soon became the owners of one of the most desirable farms in Ellenburg.

In 1875 Mrs. Knight was called to part with a loving husband and partner. In 1878 Mrs. Knight became the wife of Mr. Tyler Harris and in the years that followed she was always a true helpmate, trying as best she could to raise their two children, and her other ones, always labouring for her loved one, doing every thing her hands found to do. She is survived by five sons, Eugene Knight of Lyon, Mr. George E. Knight of Ellenburgh, Burt Knight of Chateaugay Lake, and Labran Harris of Ellenburg; four daughters, Mrs. Wm. D. Merrill of Chateaugay Lake, Mrs. Frank Furness of Ellenburgh, Mrs. James Eddy of Chateaugay Lake, Mrs. Lyman Collins of Chateaugay Lake, all of whom were at home when she passed away. Funeral services were held from the Shuttsville schoolhouse, Wednesday, May 1st, Rev. C.E. Hasting of Brainardsville officiating.

"Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates. Pro. XXXI, 31."

"Beautiful hands,
Such beautiful, beautiful hands,
They're neither soft nor small
And you, I know, would scarcely think,
That they were fair at all.
I've looked on hands whose form and hue
A sculptor's dream might be,
Yet these aged wrinkled hands
Most beautiful to me.

Such beautiful, beautiful hands!
Though heart were weary and sad
These patient hands kept toiling on
That the children might be glad.
I almost weep, as looking back
To childhoods distant day
I think how these hands rested not
When mine were at their play.

Such beautiful, beautiful hands!
They are now cold in death
For time and pain have left their work
On hand and heart and brow.
Alas! alas! the time has come
And the sad, sad day to me
And 'neith the daisies out of sight
Those hands are folded now.

But Oh! beyond this shadow land
Where all is bright and fair,
I know full well these dear old hands
Will palms of victory bear
Where crystal streams through endless
Flow over golden sands,
And where the old grow young again
I'll clasp my mother's hands."

934 OBITUARY.
Jonathan Brown*
At St. Lawrence State Hospital, Ogdensburg, N, Y,, of brain disease, Jonathan Brown, aged 7 years and 3 months.
Brother Brown was born in West Chazy, and was the oldest son of Deacon Edmond Brown, one of the pioneer settlers of that place, and located his farm near what used to be called the Douglass Corners.
He experienced religion at 18 years of age and united with the primitive Baptist church here, who worshipped God in the Douglass school-house, and remained true to the faith till death. He was, at the time of his death, a member of the Baptist church, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, where he lived two years, from 1868 to 1870.
He married when 28, Louisa Goodspeed, with whom he lived till God took her home in 1880, This was the crushing blow of his life. His love and attachment for his wife was so strong, that after her death he never rallied sufficiently to fully realize the necessity of renewing the battle tor life's duties and responsibilities.
He moved to Ellenburgh, West Hill, in 1848, with his wife and two children, a son and a daughter. He has always been a resident of Ellenburgh, West Hill, and Ellenburgh Center, except the two years he lived at Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Although a strong Baptist in sentiment and belief, yet he always felt at home wherever the true and living God was worshipped and had a zeal for his Master's cause always, and never neglected to tell of the goodness of God to his soul, and rejoiced that he could testify for Christ. Always at prayer-meeting and classy-meeting, fervent in prayer or exhortation, he gave no uncertain sound.
When his brain, by disease, became so weakened that he could nor, fully realize his real surroundings, he always felt that he was near his Saviour, and would exhort others to seek that Saviour, who was so good to him, and he could sing of redeeming love to his latest breath,
Of near relations, he leaves a son at Ellenburgh Center, two brothers In west Chazy, and a grandson at Ellenburgh, West Hill, and a grand-daughter at Troy, N. Y., and a large circle of acquaintances who were always his friends, to mourn his loss.

947 Our Father was born on Valentines Day, and passed away on Fathers Day.

John E Kolb was the first born of Joseph Edwin Kolb, and Leah Cochran. He made his Valentines Day entrance to their lives in Ipswich South Dakota, and shortly there-after the family moved to Hysham, Treasure County, Montana. The family stayed there a few years, and then moved to Pasadena in Southern California. John remembered fondly living in California, and riding his bike to the observatory up in the hills, and catching hell from his dad for it. He was about 8 or 9 when he did this with his friends. His father Ed, owned a gas station/repair shop there in Pasadena, but lost it during the depression. They then moved to Grass Valley, where Ed helped manage a friends fruit farm, until the friend lost his farm. Then they moved from Grass Valley California to Redmond Washington. John had very fond memories of growing up in Washington, and the "Swimming Hole" that they used to go to all the time. The kids all developed life long friendships there, (The Davidson Family especially) whom they remain in contact with to this day.
John joined the Army Air Guard in October of 1942, and was initially set to train to fly, but during the training, his airsickness overcame him, so he had to change to airplane mechanic. He served for four years, and then returned home to Hamilton, in Washington state.
John then worked on his father's dairy farm until he was married to Barbara in 1946, and then started doing large construction work with Barbara's father. In doing this construction work, they moved all over the northwest including Idaho and Montana and various locations in California. The family finally settled into the San Joaquin Valley near Sacramento. John worked for various "batch plants" as an operating engineer, then went to Viet Nam during the late 60's and early 70's with Morrison Knudsen, to help build bridges and airstrips that were needed for the war effort there. He returned to the states in 1972 at the end of the war. The family left California while John was in Vietnam, moving to Logan Utah. After he returned they moved from Logan to the Boise Idaho area. John worked for Idaho Concrete and Pipe in Nampa, until he was retirement age, retired, then decided retirement wasn't for him, and went back to work for them till he was 75 years old. He was a very hard worker, and his co-workers all loved him and appreciated him. They actually gave him two retirement parties, one the first time, and another at the second retirement. Dad was an AVID gardener, and raised the most beautiful, heavily producing gardens no matter where he lived. In 1995, John and Barbara and daughter Brenda moved to Clearwater Idaho, where they stayed, and had many friends in the Clearwater area. Both Barbara and Brenda are buried in the Clearwater Cemetery.
John was a very devoted husband, and wonderful father - and a quiet soft-spoken man with a wonderful commitment to his family and friends as well as his God. We are very thankful as his children to have been able to have him in our lives. He was also paramount in the lives of his grandchildren who also live in the Clearwater area, as well as those grandchildren in other states. He loved to play chess with his grandson, and taught him all he knew about chess. Dad will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren, and all those that knew him.

John was able to spend the last 6 months of his life in the home of his youngest daughter and her husband, where he received wonderful care and a lot of love, surrounded by his family members, who came to visit him.
We know that God will reward him well for a life well lived. Good bye Dad, we love you!
