    Kenneth Hoeck passed away peacefully in Tubac AZ on May 29th shortly after suffering a stroke. Kenneth aka Mike was the first born to Kenneth and Marjorie Hoeck in Winona MN. Mike grew up in a military family and traveled throughout the world before settling in Albuquerque, NM where he attended Highland High School and met his lifelong sweetheart Alla "Dedi" Jones later marrying in 1954. Mike was recruited out of high school by the University of Southern California on a baseball scholarship and was the sophomore class President at USC where he lettered in baseball in 1955, '56 and '57 when he was Co-Captain of the team.

    After graduating from USC, Mike was drafted to play professional baseball. Already having a child with another on the way his mentor and lifelong friend, coach Rod Dedeaux, convinced Mike to forego a baseball career join IBM where he won numerous worldwide achievement awards. After leaving IBM in 1968 Mike and his wife Dedi started a successful retail company named the Iron Horse which later became a part of the Boomtown family until 1996.

    In 1988 Mike semi-retired and he and Dedi travelled the world visiting all of the continents (except Antarctica) numerous times. After spending thirty years between Reno and boating in the Pacific Northwest, Mike and Dedi returned to their beloved southwest choosing to reside in the art community of Tubac, AZ. He had a passion for golf, painting and mostly people always remaining a calm, witty and fun compadre.

    Throughout his life he was involved in numerous organizations including President of the Tubac Center for the Arts, Santa Cruz Animal Shelter, Kerak Shrine (Arabs), Las Vegas Rotary, Executives Association of Reno, Hidden Valley and Spanish Trail Country Clubs, USC Baseball Alumni Association, San Juan Yacht Club, Grumpy Gringo Club and numerous youth sports organizations.

    Mike will be missed dearly by his family and numerous friends in both Tubac and Reno. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, mother Marjorie, step-mother Patty, brother Scotty and his dear wife of close to 60 years Dedi. He is survived by his three children Tom of Reno, Kelly Borelli (Jim) of Incline Village, Michael of Reno and four grandchildren Heidi, Ryan, Alex and Danielle.
